This subject is part of an integrated set of four subjects which are normally taken in the same semester of study at a partner institution in China. The exact sequencing of the subject material for each of the four subjects will be determined by the relevant Chinese institution. The subject material for this subject is comprised of the basic language structures of the Chinese (Mandarin) language which are taught on the basis of situational topics with an emphasis on developing aural and oral skills. Elements of Chinese society are studied in the context of the topics and students, in addition to learning the elements of the Chinese language, will be required to demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of elements of Chinese culture in terms of the operation of the Chinese economy. Students taking this subject will normally have completed the foundation subjects of the Bachelor of Business.
