This subject applies economic analysis to the labour market and complements studies in human resource management and industrial relations.  It develops the elements of the neoclassical labour market;  and applies economic principles to specific labour issues such as wage and employment determination, labour productivity and labour force participation rates.  Contemporary labour issues are explored including unemployment, wages policy and the institutional framework of Australian labour markets.
