Students may not enroll concurrently in Law 380 and Law 220.

Not available to students who have completed LAW281.

This subject examines the modern law of business organisations with emphasis on:

a.         The law of trusts;

b.         The law of partnerships; and

c.         The law of corporations.

The law regarding sole traders, joint venturers, franchises and associations are also briefly investigated.

More specifically, this subject examines

a.         The definition of each organisation and sources of law for each organisation;

c.         The manner by which each organisation may be brought into existence;

d.         The legal rules regulating the internal relationship between the participants of each organisation;

e.         The legal rules regulating the external relationship between the participants of each organisation and third parties. The law of agency as relevant to each type of organisation is amongst other examined;

f.          The manner by which each organisation may be terminated.
