This subject examines the theory and practice of management. A number of classical and contemporary theoretical approaches are discussed, emphasising a new management paradigm and challenges of managing in the 21st century. The focus will be on how management practices and the theories upon which such practices are based are responding to the global changes and rapid technological changes, especially in information technology and communication. IT professionals / managers will be exposed to a spectrum of the issues related to the general management discipline, such as the structure and dynamics of the classical and new organisational forms, leadership issues, small group decision making, personality differences and conflict resolution. Apart from understanding internal environment, the subject also includes the topics on fostering innovations, change and development, managing in a global context all embedded in new management paradigm. hat knowledge can be applied, taking into account a particular context or specifics of the managers' own work places.
