ACC280 Health Services Accounting (8)

Enrolment Restriction: Enrolment in Health Services Administration courses
This subject provides students with an overview of financial and management accounting as it relates to health service organisations. The financial recording and reporting system is introduced in the first module of the subject with emphasis placed on understanding the nature of the system and its output rather than on compiling accounting records. Management accounting is covered in two modules: Cost Accounting; and Planning and Budgeting. Students will be introduced to such techniques as cost estimation, product costing, cost-volume-profit analysis, budget preparation, variance analysis and capital budgeting so that they will be able to understand information provided by accountants and improve their effectiveness in financial management.

This information is for currently enrolled students, and students wishing to re-enrol. Please consult the online course brochures for prospective students looking to enrol in 2008.
