Enrolment Restriction: Not available to students who have completed ETL511 ICT Experience (METL), or ETL411 ICT Experience for Teacher Librarians (METL)
This subject introduces students to the integration of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to enhance student learning outcomes. The impact of ICTs on the role of the school's information specialist and on the provision of information services in schools is considered, with particular emphasis on the Internet. Students gain hands-on ICT experience through an online conference program using a suite of asynchronous and synchronous online tools. A range of topics are explored including ICT integration issues in schools, Internet-based literature initiatives, knowledge management, digital information service provision in schools, and information policy issues in schools.
