ETL523 Information Policy Issues (8)

This subject requires students to examine the economic, political, ethical and technological issues concerning information policy in schools based on policy trends in both education, and library and information science contexts. This subject examines policies and statements at local, regional, national and international levels related to issues such as: intellectual property rights; copyright and plagiarism; freedom of, and access to, information and technologies; online privacy and cyber-safety; information and digital literacy; and the effective integration and use of technologies to support teaching and learning in schools. A whole school approach to the development and management of information policy issues is also explored. Students explore information policy issues through an online conference program using a suite of asynchronous and synchronous online tools.
