This subject centres on the nature and origins of terrorism. It will examine the international history of terrorism, its motivations and aims, including the political and theological influences which have shaped the face of the current threat. Critical events which have contributed to the current situation will also be identified and explored. Key political and religious extremist groups will be profiled and their methods of operation identified. The corresponding history, motivators and methods of counterterrorist measures will be addressed alongside the above.
