INF215 Information Technology in Libraries (8)

Enrolment Restriction: Not available to students in the Graduate Diploma of Applied Science (Library and Information Management) or Master of Applied Science (Library and Information Management).
Not available to students who have completed subject INF413 or INF115.
This subject aims to provide students with an overview of the use of information technology in libraries and related information agencies. It introduces them to the application of computer and communication technologies in libraries, the basics of information systems and technology, and a variety of management issues: staff training, user education and the impact of information technology on library services. It is intended to prepare students to function in a computerised environment, enable them to keep abreast of current developments and encourage them to evaluate information systems and technology in terms of user needs.
