INF441 Principles of Knowledge Management (8)
Enrolment Restriction: Not available to students who have completed INF336.
This subject provides an overview of knowledge management in an organisational context. It describes how information is used to support organisational objectives, discusses the information needs of management, examines the organisational processes during which knowledge is created, and describes the techniques to capture and use organisational knowledge. The focus is on demonstrating how organisational knowledge is embedded in many aspects of the organisation (in workers, processes, suppliers, customers, and so on) and how it can be identified and managed to benefit the organisation. Therefore, the subject examines how organisations develop processes to capture existing organisational knowledge, progress to share this knowledge, and mature to develop new strategic directions using the stored knowledge.
