JST412 Fraud Prevention (8)
This subject will outline the alternative solutions for victims and potential victims of fraud. The options are:- a reactive response (Investigations) and the proactive response (Fraud prevention and deterrence programmes). Fraud prevention/deterrence programmes involve the implementation of the necessary controls and procedures which will act as an impediment and deterrent to any potential fraud offender. Within this framework will be the implementation of ethics based training programmes, a whistleblowers facility and controls such as the segregation of duties and accountabilities. Regardless of the success of fraud prevention/deterrence programmes there must also be an investigative/reactive response to fraud.
