This subject examines the major features of the Australian Legal System including the Australian Constitution and the law making role of Parliament. The subject has an in-depth focus on the history, development and impact of the common law of Australia. This includes the role of precedent and judicial decision making, together with legal reasoning and research. Aboriginal legal and other issues are compared. Substantive areas are discussed such as intellectual property, criminal law and tort law which includes negligence and defamation.
