MGT571 Contemporary Management Practice (8)

Enrolment Restriction: Available only to students in Master of Management(IT(Articulated Set); Master of Project Management (Articulated Set); Master of Business Administration (Computing); Graduate Certificate in Account Management.
Not available to students who have completed MBA501 and MGT501.
This subject examines the theory and practice of management. A number of classical and contemporary theoretical approaches are discussed, with emphasis given to exploration of contemporary management practices and the challenges of managing in the 21st century. IT professionals / managers will be exposed to a range of issues related to the general management discipline, such as: the structure and dynamics of classical and new organisational forms; leadership issues; small group decision making; and, personality differences and conflict resolution. The subject also addresses management issues associated with innovation, change and development, and managing in a global context.
