Enrolment Restriction: for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students only
This subject introduces the student to a broad theoretical and practical overview of the major illnesses affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It examines the differences between infectious and non-infectious diseases, as well as the disease incidence. It explores the relationships between lifestyle and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health status. It also examines the role of health professionals. Further to this, it addresses the impact that colonisation has had on health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
