OCC412 Occupational Therapy Practicum 2 (Honours) (24)

Prerequisite: OCC311
Enrolment Restriction: Students must be enrolled in Bachelor of Occupational Therapy(Honours)
In this subject, students are expected to complete either two seven-week practicums or one twelve-week practicum. Students will be supervised by an experienced occupational therapist or other relevant staff member if the student is engaged in a role-emerging or project practicum. Each seven-week practicum will be approximately 262.5 hours in duration, combined 525 hours. A twelve-week practicum will be approximately 450 hours in duration. Students will be expected to be working as an entry-level occupational therapist by the end of this subject and become involved in management tasks related to their practice setting. Students will be required to demonstrate their ability to practise reflectively, to critically evaluate their practise and to critically reflect on their learning during the course. One of the seven-week placements may be a role-emerging or project placement for those students who have not completed a project placement in OCC311. Any student who has not completed a projec
t placement in OCC311 will usually be excluded from doing a 12-week placement as they will be required to a seven-week project placement in fourth year. Honours students will be entitled to have half a day off a week to work on their honours project during placement.
