This subject provides a comprehensive overview of public sector management, beginning with its nature, its political, economic, legal and social context in a period of change and reform. This is followed by a study of specific areas of public sector management including the policy process and strategy, financial management, HRM and employment relations. It concludes with studies of key issues in the areas of performance management, accountability and ethics, corporatisation and privatisation, and the use of IT in the public sector.
