This subject reviews biomechanical principles with respect to functional human movement, posture, balance, therapeutic exercise prescription and equipment. The mechanical properties of common collagenous tissues are reviewed in depth with particular emphasis on injury, healing, surgery, orthopaedic fixation, joint replacement and inactivity. Human locomotion across the life span is studied with emphasis on the skills required to undertake effective observational and clinical movement analysis.
