REC305 Advanced Principles of Ecotourism (8)
Prerequisite: REC200
The grand vision of ecotourism has been applied in many countries and situations around the world with mixed results. This subject builds upon REC200 by exploring the concepts and underlying principles of sustainable development, sustainable tourism and ecotourism in greater depth. The subject synthesises material presented in other subjects and considers how concepts and theories can be put into practice. Students investigate the issues raised in the application of ecotourism principles exploring real situations and experiences. The subject thus provides a bridge from theoretical consideration of principles to their practical application in commercial/professional situations.
