This subject is an introductory examination of the history and tools of Old Testament studies, and the content of the Old Testament texts. The primary focus is on developing familiarity with the texts themselves and the contribution of various critical schools of Old Testament studies. Issues of textual transmission, authorship, literary genre, canonical development, literary appreciation, exegesis and interpretation are addressed.
