The Master and Graduate Certificate in Gerontology will prepare graduates from a multi-disciplinary background to utilise skills of enquiry, critical analysis and reflective practice, in applying a broad knowledge of gerontology issues to their professional practice with the purpose of supporting and promoting the rights, health and wellbeing, and social inclusion of older people in all avenues of community life. It will prepare graduates to take leadership positions in their disciplines and within aged services organisations. Graduates of the course will have developed either research/policy or practice skills in relation to gerontological issues of importance in their workplaces and professions.

Admission criteria
Graduate Certificate in Gerontology
Bachelor degree or, as a minimum, applicants need to have a TAFE Diploma/Certificates and/or work experience in aged services
Master of Gerontology
This course is available to applicants who are graduates from Bachelor level courses in disciplines such as nursing, allied health, community work, social work and welfare, health science, health administration, public health.
Credit
Applicants with the Graduate Certificate in Gerontology or other relevant post-graduate qualifications will be eligible for credit.
Graduation requirements*
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 32 points for the Graduate Certificate and 64 points for the Master award.
*The number of subjects and specific subject choices are described in the course structure and enrolment pattern for the course.
Course structure
The course consists of four subjects for the Graduate Certificate and eight subject for the Master, student can elect to pursue either a Professional Practice Stream or a Research Policy Stream.
