This subject is designed to address current issues in assessment and evaluation with a particular emphasis on the needs of school leaders. Students will study contemporary theories and practice in assessment and evaluation both locally and internationally. The weaknesses and strengths of particular models will be assessed. Students will become familiar with critical issues relating to the design, implementation and reporting of evaluation studies. The principles of program evaluation will be developed. The nature of meta evaluations and the standards used in such evaluations will be assessed. Students will assess work based assessment and evaluation practices within their own organisation (school) and develop improved practices.
