This subject is an introductory subject in the core secondary teacher education subjects. Reconceptualising Secondary Education introduces students to ideas and philosophies that relate to teaching and learning in secondary education. The subject specifically engages with ideas about education versus schooling, competing conceptions of curriculum, the teacher as a professional, and the teacher as a reflective practitioner. Students will consider what it is to be a teaching professional in the twenty first century and to rethink the nature of secondary education.
