EER500 Introduction to Educational Research (8)

This introductory subject focuses on developing the skills needed to read, understand and evaluate the relevance of educational research. As such the subject focuses upon building understandings regarding the need for educational research; providing an overview of research orientations and methods for investigating educational problems; examining research designs, their relationship to the nature of findings and appropriateness for different educational investigations; reading and critiquing research reports and studies. The subject allows students to select research articles aligned with relevant professional interests so they can critique and assess the significance of these research studies and findings for their professional practice. This subject provides a foundation for studies in EER501 Qualitative Research, EER502 Quantitative Research, ERP401 Education Honours Project/Dissertation, ERP502 Master of Education Project and ERP503 Master of Education Thesis.
