EPT450 Foundations 2: Practicum Seminar (8)
Enrolment restrictions: Students enrolled in stream 3 of the Bachelor of Primary Education Studies for Ontario.
The Practicum Seminar course is highly integrated with the in-school component of the program. Academic staff develop students' knowledge and skills regarding their rights and responsibilities as primary/junior teachers in Ontario according to legislation and the Ontario College of Teachers "Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession". They are also introduced to assessment (formal and informal), reporting, lesson and curriculum planning. The seminar also provides students with the opportunity to consider what sort of teacher they want to become, reflect on practicum experiences, and chart their own progress in the form a Growth Portfolio organized within the context of the Ontario College of Teachers "Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession" and "The Ethical Standards for the Teaching Professions".
