HRM381 Managing People Cross Culturally (8)

The subject addresses a wide range of cross cultural and HR management practices and strategies and is designed to provide students with a practical overview of the processes and issues, which they must understand to effectively manage in an international firm. The subject will concentrate on specfic intra-organisational and cultural aspects of managing internationally. It will include discussions of the process of managing international businesses, designing an organisational structure capable of coping with international operations, assessing the change in operations and managing staff across cultures. This subject emphasis on the interpersonal skills needed to manage across national borders and show how cultural factors influence behaviour in the workplace. The student will gain a fundamental understanding of the behaviour of individuals, groups and organizational units, and implications of culture for the process of management of cross border business organisations based in China.
