What background information and skills are necessary to assist in the planning and development of an outdoor recreation or ecotourism facility/resource? We will investigate the philosophy and background information associated with ecotourism developments - those projects that represent a commercial investment. The subject aims to take students from an appreciation of the historical dimension of recreation/ecotourism planning and design, through the philosophical dimensions of sustainability, to the design and development of a facility and its surrounding environment as well as the formalised business planning requirements.
