Bachelor of Applied Science (Adventure Ecotourism)
BAppSc(AdvEcotourism)
This course aims to provide a balance between professional training, education and practice, in addition to training in research and inquiry. It is intended that students will gain a sound scientific background to their industry as well as develop a range of business, communication, leadership and social skills. Students will take a range of subjects from the School of Environmental Sciences and from the School of Business and Information Technology relating to business management, ecology, environmental management and natural area tourism with the aim of developing the skills applicable to ethical and professional ecotourism operations.

Admission criteria
The admissions criteria are as follows:
Internal
A supplementary form - the Student Profile Application Form - completed by all applicants, is the principal method of selection. The form requests demographic data, education and training qualifications, personal and professional outdoor recreation interests and experience and qualifications, reasons for wanting to do the course and fitness level.
The criteria for selection of students is as follows:
- relevant qualifications
- relevant work experience
- passion and interest
- apparent literacy.
ENTER/UAI or equivalent Year 12 scores are a secondary ranking tool.
Distance education
Applicants are assessed on a combination of work or industry experience, evidence of academic ability (studies already undertaken) and where applicable, demonstrated skills or proficiency as required for the course for which admission is being sought.
Credit
Students who have already completed the TAFE Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation are awarded 32 points of credit upon admission.
Graduation requirements*
To graduate, students selecting the Outdoor Recreation minor must satisfactorily complete 192 points, comprising 160 points completed during enrolment in the Bachelor degree course (144 points of core subjects and 16 points of minor subjects)with the remaining 32 points of the minor subjects credited from the package of 32 points awarded for completion of the TAFE Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation.
Students selecting the Planning and Policy minor complete 192 points consisting of 144 points of core subjects and a 48 point minor.
