ACC275 Professional Practice in Accounting (8)

CSU Discipline Area: Accounting

Assumed Knowledge: Students should have an understanding of concepts in ACC100 Accounting 1, ACC110 Accounting 2 and ACC200 Accounting Systems

Abstract: In the first four weeks of this subject, students will study a range of workplace issues to enhance  their employment skills and their employability. These issues include attitudes to work and work ethic, fitting into an organisation, team dynamics, communication skills, employee rights and responsibilities, the nature of professionalism and ethics. To optimise the transition to professional life students will then, in conjunction with the subject co-ordinator, select from one of three streams of work related activity: a structured learning experience to further develop employment skills;  a new project at their usual place of employment; or an internship at a host organisation. These streams will provide opportunities for students to use professional skills within a work environment and to develop work skills which can be later used in other subjects within the degree.
