Abstract: This subject focuses on selection and reproduction in commercial and stud livestock. It investigates in more depth the implications of breeding and selection techniques to optimise/maximise the ability to meet client product specifications. The subject investigates interactions within reproduction, basic and selection genetics, structural soundness, nutrition and the impact of diseases on reproductive performance in order to achieve specified products and/or outcomes. Breeding and selection methods and different breeding types will also be examined.
