Abstract: This subject extends LES301 by exploring the social relations that govern leisure practices and health promotion approaches. Social psychological and critical sociological approaches to leisure are covered in relation to the wellbeing of individuals and communities. Students are encouraged to apply a social understanding of health and leisure issues, determinants and inequities as they are addressed through projects aimed at the promotion of wellbeing. Conceptual approaches and promotion strategies, such as community capacity building and the enhancement of social capital, are developed in relation to leisure.
