CSU Discipline Area: Sociology
Abstract: This subject uses sociological concepts and theories. The aim is to prepare the student to analyse the relationship between health, illness and society. The student will be asked to critically examine how the structure and social organisation of society determine both patterns of illness and health and the responses to it. The subject will also investigate how groups of people or different classes have unequal chances regarding health because of different access to health-care facilicies and to professional services.
