Admission criteria

Applicants must have a bachelor degree with a major in accounting, or a postgraduate foundation degree in accounting, from a recognised Australian tertiary institution, or a qualification deemed to be equivalent.

Applicants must have sufficient English proficiency to meet the general requirements of the University, or must demonstrate proficiency explicitly as follows: Students must have attained within two years of commencement of the course an Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall score of at least 6.5 with no score below 6 (or equivalent).

Applicants wishing to transfer into the program must have a credit average on studies completed prior to transfer.
 

Credit

Students may receive up to 50% credit into the Master of Accounting Practice for related prior postgraduate studies with a
grade of Credit or above. Credit will not be awarded for work experience.

Graduation requirement

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.

Course structure

Students who enrol in a ‘CPA subject’, must be enrolled in the CPA Program administered by CPA Australia and sit the CPA Australia exams. In completing the ‘CPA subject’ in the Master of Accounting Practice with Charles Sturt University, students do not receive the CPA Australia qualification until they have met all the requirements of the CPA Program as set by CPA Australia, from time to time. The course comprises four compulsory core subjects and eight subjects chosen from a further three groups of subjects.

Professional recognition

Delivery of the professional level of the CPA Program in any university course requires annual registration as a Tuition Provider and annual course accreditation. While the CPA subjects within this course have been accredited by CPA Australia as part of the Master of Professional Accounting (CPA), the Master of Accounting has not as yet received accreditation. Applications for Tuition Provider registration and accreditation for this course will now be progressed.

Full-time 4 years (8.0 sessions)

Bachelor of Nursing 192 points 3 years FTE Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) 64 points 1 year FTE Students will complete the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) in Part time mode over 2 years. Overall Duration of combined course is 4 years FTE taken over 5 years as the final 64 points are undertaken part time.

Admission criteria

Bachelor of Nursing

Students will be admitted according to CSU Admission Regulations.

Admission to the internal course is based on completion of the NSW Higher School Certificate or equivalent, where the minimum University Admission Index (UAI) or equivalent is achieved (applications are normally made to and processed by the Universities Admissions Centre). International entrants must hold a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 in order to be eligible for admission.

Admission to the distance education (part-time or fulltime) course requires that applicants meet one of the following criteria (applications will be made to and processed by Charles Sturt University):

Hold an Enrolled/Division 2 Nurse (TAFE Cert 1V in Nursing - Health Training Package, Commonwealth of Australia 2007)(undertaken from 2008)
Hold an Enrolled Nurse or Division 2 Nurse with a Cert IV or Conversion to Cert IV(undertaken prior to 2008)
Enrolled/ Division 2 Nurse TAFE Diploma in Nursing
Enrolled/ Division 2 Nurses Advanced Certificate with at least five years experience and 1 - 2 in-service courses (1 - 2 day course)
Enrolled/ Division 2 Nurses Hospital Certificate with at least five years experience, evidence of regular continuing education and 3 - 4 in-service courses (1 - 2 day course)
Completion of the equivalent of the first year of the Bachelor of Nursing
Applicants will be ranked to receive an offer according to the above criteria. International entrants must hold a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 in order to be eligible for admission.

Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic)

For entry to this course students must hold a bachelors degree in nursing (or equivalent) and be registered to practice. Some experience in the emergency health field is recommended. Intending students should also be aware that in order to undertake the practicum subjects they will be required to comply with the risk management policies and procedures of the host ambulance authority.
Students must be able to attend a 5 day residential school associated with the subject CLS412 Introduction to Internship.

This is a combined course and to complete the course students must successfully complete 32 subjects and will graduate with the Bachelor of Nursing,Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic). Students can transfer and exit after completion of 192 points with the Bachelor of Nursing.

Professional recognition

This course consists of two courses that are linked through a program code. The Bachelor of Nursing is accredited through the ANMAC and the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) is currently undergoing accreditation with the Australiasian Council of Ambulance Authorities Inc.

Melanie Schaefer, Administrative Officer – Accreditation, ANMAC advised that as the Bachelor of Nursing is completed and the students graduate before proceeding to the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) there is no additional accreditation requried.
