Admission criteria

Master of Arts (Journalism)

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in any discipline, a Graduate Certificate in Journalism, a Graduate Diploma of Journalism, or equivalents. Applicants who do not have a university degree will be considered on the basis of documented evidence of five years full-time employment.

Graduate Certificate in Journalism

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than journalism, or equivalent professional experience. Applicants who do not have a university degree will be considered on the basis of documented evidence of two years full-time study, training or employment.

Credit

Master of Arts (Journalism)

Applicants who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Journalism will receive 32 points of credit in the Master of Arts (Journalism). They will be required to complete an additional 64 credit points from subjects available in the postgraduate journalism articulated set, or equivalent. Applicants who have completed the Graduate Diploma of Journalism will receive 64 points of credit in the Master of Arts (Journalism). They will be required to complete an additional 32 credit points from subjects available in the postgraduate journalism articulated set, or equivalent.

Articulation

The Master, the Graduate Diploma [exit point only] and the Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.
