Admission criteria
Students must have either:
-
successfully completed a recognised undergraduate degree or equivalent in either social welfare, social work, human services or the social sciences;
or - successfully completed the Graduate Certificate in Human Services
Credit
Credit of up to four subjects (32 points) may be awarded to a student who has completed equivalent study at Masters or Graduate Diploma level at a recognised tertiary institution. All credit applications will be considered by the Course Coordinator.
Graduation requirement
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
Course structure
To graduate from the Master of Human Service, students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
Students undertaking the coursework option must complete:
1. one core subject (8points) comprising either:
ETH401 Ethics and Social Welfare
or
ETH402 Vulnerability and the Ethics of Intervention
or
ETH404 Ethical Issues in Correctional Management
selected in consultation with the Course Director
AND
2. Restricted Electives (56points).
Students undertaking the Dissertation option must complete:
1. three core subjects (24points) comprising:
SWK504 Human Services Research Methods
WEL508 Social Policy Reading Subject
and one of either:
ETH401 Ethics and Social Welfare
or
ETH402 Vulnerability and the Ethics of Intervention
or
ETH404 Ethical Issues in Correctional Management
selected in consultation with the Course Director
AND
2. Three Restricted Electives (24 points)

3. The Dissertation (16points).
