ASC219 Equine Behaviour and Education (8)

CSU Discipline Area: Animal and Vet Science (ANVET)

Duration: One session

Abstract:

This subject will enable students to study the principles of learning, behaviour and training of horses from birth to riding age and how these can be managed in order to educate horses that have been previously untrained. There will be an emphasis on the application of these principles to horse training and conditioning, where students will be exposed to a range of approaches and philosophies that will enable horses to progress through their education. Students will be instructed on the timing of progression of individual horses so that each horse can be taught basic skills as a foundation for it to reach its potential and perform at an appropriate level of competition. Students will also be involved in investigative learning techniques as an integral part of their study.
