Abstract:

This subject examines the behaviour of horses in general and the implications of that behaviour to horse training and management. Training systems and husbandry are evaluated against basic learning theory for horses and trainings implications to animal welfare.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of and be able to implement the basic theories of training and horse education.
- Be able to identify welfare indicators for horses in training.
