Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant to conducting research, especially for entry to higher degree courses;
- demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge in the area of specialisation;
- demonstrate verbal and written skills relevant to advanced studies.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Students select a research topic and develop a plan for a research project, under the guidance of the supervisor(s), which is relevant to the nominated discipline. Students are required to submit at least one progress report to the supervisor(s) during the program and deliver one seminar on their research project to an audience. The mid-term review of progress will allow the identification of problem areas which may lead to reduced progress and completion rates in individual courses or students, thus enabling the re-evaluation of course structures and student workloads, as appropriate.
