Abstract:
This subject endeavors to make the student aware of global trends that are generating opportunities and creating challenges for business. It aims to develop an understanding of the competitive global environment and the fundamentals of doing business in a global setting. A strategic management approach is employed to analyse the operations of global business including hands on experiences that allow students to analyse the opportunities and challenges created by new market entry. Major forms of global business activities are considered with attention given to the risk and environmental considerations necessary for an effective business strategy.

Enrolment restrictions:
Only available to students completing the Bachelor of Business Studies in China or through a TAFE partnership in Australia or with the approval of a Course Director.
Not available to students who have completed MGT340 or MGT383
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to discuss theories of strategic management to a global enterprise
- be able to analyse and discuss strategies for surmounting constraints on global business operations
- be able to explain the major forms of international business activities
- be able to discuss the risk and environmental considerations necessary for effective business strategy
- be able to explain cultural literacy and develop the tools to effectively communicate with foreign business representatives
- be able to discuss in detail, emerging markets and explain the growing importance of markets such as China and India
- be able to assess and discuss complex issues particularly in relation to technology , entrepreneurship, and doing business with a global perspective
- be able to analyse the opportunities and challenges created by new market entry
