Abstract:
This subject examines communication processes in organisational management. The subject also develops an understanding of the theory and practice of public communication campaigns, including research and programming, planning and implementation. Emphasis is given to the acquisition of practical skills.

Bachelor of Arts (Communication) courses Bachelor of Media Communication Graduate Certificate in Cultural Event Management Graudate Diploma of Cultural Event Management Bachelor of Marketing Communication COM116 or graduate status
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate highly developed writing, design and print production skills; including news release writing; writing for video and sound productions; reports, brochures, advertising and other publicity and related tasks
- be able to critically evaluate then develop and implement strategies in public mass media relations, with particular emphasis given to media planning and crisis communication
- be able to demonstrate higher level presentation and management skills for electronic media, including media training techniques, design and production strategies, and managing narrowcast video productions.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- public mass media relations strategies and techniques - the application of communication strategies for media relations techniques to specific contexts - government, community, business, specific issues, crisis communication - further development of professional writing skills - speeches, reports, presentations, print and broadcast media releases. - electronic publishing: design, layout and presentation techniques. - Television/Radio training techniques to "train the trainer" level
