CSU Discipline Area: Design and Visual Production (DSVIS)
Duration: One session
Abstract:
This subject provides the opportunity for students to function independently in a nominated design or management role under professional television and theatre working conditions, with supervision. They will be required to manage a budget and crew for a television and a theatre project. Students will also undertake an appropriate internship as a subject requirement.

Only available to students enrolled in the BA (Design for Theatre and Television)
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to manage their own time as a professional
- be able to understand and meet their commitments to other members of the production team
- be able to compile and manage a budget
- be able to manage a crew
- be able to reflect on their own practice critically
- be able to work comfortably within a professional environment
- be able to observe standard OH&S procedures
- be able to apply principles of intellectual property and copyright in their work
- be able to implement and observe principles of EEO
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- functioning independently in a design or management role - dealing professionally, ethically and fairly with unanticipated demands - identifying when extra advice and support are required, and seeking this - observe the design or management process in a professional organisation - critical reflection upon one's own practice - intellectual property and copyright issues - EEO and Antidiscrimination issues
