Abstract:

This subject, using theoretical and empirical literature, offers critical analysis of the world economic environment.  In particular, it focuses on trade theories, the political economy of trade protection, the role of the World Trade Organisation (WTO)/General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in liberalising world trade, issues in foreign investment, labour and environmental standards, and recent events in foreign exchange markets and international monetary systems.
