EEL415 Pedagogy in Higher Education (8)
CSU Discipline Area: VET & Higher Education (VOCHE)
Duration: One session
Abstract:
The two modules in this subject address quality pedagogy and assessment as pedagogy. Grounded in the theories of authentic pedagogy (Newmann & Wehlage, 1998) and authentic assessment (Biggs, 1998) this subject provides participants with the opportunity to examine and critique their current pedagogy, explore contemporary perspectives of assessment creating impetus for an agenda for improving future practice in learning and teaching in higher education. Through its design the subject models authentic pedagogy and assessment by engaging participants in real-world, negotiated, contextual tasks that build intellectual and pedagogical capital, and provide spaces for communicating in a scholarly community that shares an understanding of educational theory and practice.
