Abstract:
This subject offers an opportunity for participants to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of learning and teaching at their institution. The particular focus is on its context, its strategic directions, plans, systems and processes, its diverse student cohorts, and the professional development needs of its teaching and teaching support staff. Participants in this subject are required to critically reflect on their practice and demonstrate a deep-level understanding of the unique needs of their students and how best to support their learning by integrating institutional plans, technologies, systems and processes into their practice.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Describe the characteristics and educational needs of the student cohorts they teach and identify appropriate learning outcomes and learning and teaching strategies
- Engage students in learning through a range of educational technologies
- Design assessment activities and criteria in alignment with organization assessment policies and their student cohort.
- Demonstrate understanding of alignment of their organisation’s principles and approach to curriculum design
- Demonstrate capability for collaborating with educational professional staff to enhance course and subject design
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- Understanding and supporting a diverse student intake (e.g., recent school leavers, mature-age students, first in family to go to University and LSES students, those entering on the basis of TAFE admission, DE students, international and indigenous students)
- Educational technologies and their integration into Learning and Teaching
- Institutional vision and its strategic directions (including learning and teaching and assessment policies)
- Evaluation of students’ subjects and course experience
