EHR123 Contemporary Issues in Health (8)

CSU Discipline Area: Exercise Science (EXSCI)

Duration: One session

Abstract:

This subject serves to establish foundation health discipline knowledge relevant to young people. The meanings applied to young people's health will be explored from epidemiological evidence with that evidence then used to showcase both beneficial and risk taking health behaviours. Contemporary health issues that affect young people such as physical health, substance use, sexual health, gender, relationships, consumer and mental health will form the discipline base and be applied to the Years 7-10 and Stage 6 NSW PDHPE syllabuses. Exploration of health issues will utilise curriculum support resources but a wider personal and professional perspective will be encouraged.
