Duration: Two sessions
Abstract:
This subject permits students to apply detailed examination and knowledge of their specialisation through an independent research project that combines research methods and academic inquiry and present their findings in the form of a project report. Students are required to develop a research proposal under the guidance of a research supervisor, to plan and carry out the research, and to present the findings in an academically conventional fashion.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- apply their knowledge of research methodology to the study of a chosen exercise science specialisation problem or issue;
- demonstrate competence in data collection and research planning;
- write a research report that complies with academic conventions.
Syllabus:
The subject will cover the following topics:
- detailed Case Study of student-selected topic;
- critical reflection on industry experience.

- preliminary assessment theory and techniques;
- evidence-based practice;
- client assessment;
- interview techniques;
- networking;
- working with a variety of industry professionals;
- awareness of emerging profession of exercise science.
