Abstract:
In this subject, students study the latest advances in Emergency Management, Emergency Management Planning, Operations Management or Recovery Management by undertaking and reporting on a comprehensive literature search and analysis of recent advances influencing the management of emergency situations, under the guidance of a supervisor appropriate to the area selected.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate the ability to apply established theories to novel bodies of knowledge or practice in emergency management and evaluate complex ideas at an abstract level;
- be able to demonstrate mastery in the skills needed to investigate, analyse and synthesis complex information, problems, concepts and theories in emergency management;
- be able to demonstrate mastery of the communication and technical research skills to justify and interpret theoretical propositions, methods, conclusions and professional decisions to specialist and non specialist audiences;
- be able to demonstrate the technical and communication skills to design, evaluate, implement and analyse development that contribute to professional emergency management practice.
