Abstract:

This subject addresses the practical aspects of teaching English to speakers of other languages including the place of ESL in Australian contexts and EFL in overseas contexts. The primary focus is on developing capability in the theory-based design of teaching and learning for ESL/EFL contexts. This subject connects English language teaching theory with English language teaching practice by focusing on learner needs analysis, resource appraisal, syllabus design, syllabus implementation, evaluation, and assessment.
