EPI203 Metals Workshop (8)

CSU Discipline Area: Curriculum Studies (CURIC)

Duration: One session

Abstract:

This subject provides the student with the opportunity to develop workshop skills and safety procedures in the use of metal as a material. A strong emphasis on OH&S is included in the subject. Students will consider how these skills and concepts relate to technology studies in the secondary school. They will engage in school metal workshop projects and receive advice and demonstration of teachers' practice including pedagogy, behaviour and classroom management and OH&S issues related to the TAS teaching environment. They will report on these aspects of teaching to develop an applied understanding of safety, management and organisational concepts to ensure a safe technology classroom environment and consider how this supports their development as effective technology teachers. They will build on these understandings through assessment items that link theory and practice in this technology area.
