EPT301 Teaching and Training in VET (16)

CSU Discipline Area: Professional Studies (PROFL)

Duration: Two sessions

Abstract:

In this subject that extends across two Sessions students will learn how to plan, teach, assess and evaluate in an institutional Registered Training Organisation. Students will learn about, and operate within, policy and regulatory frameworks both government and organisational. Students will engage with theories relating to teaching, training, assessment and evaluation and will link these to their practice. A practicum of 100 hours is included in this two-session subject. This subject will include content from key design and delivery Units of Competency from the TAE40110 Training Package. (Students who enrol with entry level credit of VET03C Certificate IV TAA40104 or TAE40110 are ineligible to enrol in this subject).

Enrolment restrictions:

Students who enrol with entry level credit of VET03C Certificate IV TAA401 04 or TAE401 10 are ineligible to enrol in this subject.
Students who have completed EEB321 or EPT103 or EPT203 or EPT220 or EPT430 are ineligible to enrol in this subject.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to discuss a range of issues relevant to training within the VET context
- be able to examine workplace environments for their learning potential
- ba able to promote an inclusive learning culture in the classroom or workplace
- ba able to apply occupational health and safety principles standards in a learning environment
- be able to facilitate individual and group-based learning
- ba able to plan and organise assessment
- be able to assess competence against Units of Competency from a Training Package or other accredited curriculum
- be able to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching/training
