Abstract:

This subject provides an opportunity for students to consider the influences on curriculum, models of teaching and learning and frameworks for planning in the upper years of primary school. Students will utilise the knowledge and experience they have gained in the first two years of the course to further develop their skills in observing learner needs and abilities, and planning for their development and teaching to achieve planned outcomes. The subject includes a professional experience placement of up to 20 days (dependent upon accreditation requirements) in years 3-6 in schools.

Assumed Knowledge:

Students attempting this subject should have an understanding of current practices in the teaching of literacy and numeracy in upper primary settings. They should also be familiar with primary school systems, structures and professional expectations.

Available only to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) or as determined by the Course Coordinator.
